Maggie Lindemann releases new single “She Knows It”

“I wrote this song about liking a girl with a boyfriend when I first started writing my new album,” Lindemann exclusively tells Alternative Press. “It was a couple of years ago, but I was just so hurt about it because I felt like I was really being led on and used. I know a lot of women-loving-women can relate to this topic, so I was like, ‘Fuck it. I’m gonna write about it.’”

In the song, Lindemann navigates the battlefield of emotions surrounding liking a girl who would simultaneously lead her on and complain about her boyfriend but wouldn’t break up with him.

The video stays in line with those emotions, beginning with Lindemann sharing hidden looks with her love interest and inviting her to a show that night. When the girl shows up with her boyfriend, Lindemann responds by flipping him off.

At the show, Lindemann sings as the crowd moshes and pushes around the boyfriend. As the song draws to a close, the love interest finds her way out of the crowd and finally approaches Lindemann to respond to the song.

Directed by Vixxion, the visual also features artists such as JasiahSiiickbrain and TOOPOOR.

“I wrote up the concept [for the visual] right when we made the song,” Lindemann says in a press release. “I instantly had a vision for it and wanted to give it a high school 2000s feel but also keep it current and industrial and surreal spin from a normal classroom setting. I wanted to tap into my high school fantasy.”
